Skin is one organ that shows almost immediate signs of wear and tear. Even if you take good care of it, skin is
likely to show some kind of ageing eventually by way of wrinkles and premature sagging. Destructive factors like harsh effects of the
sun, offices that emanate ultraviolet light, wind, low humidity, smoking, lack of proper nutritious diet, crash diets and not drinking
the mandatory 8 glasses of water every day can cause havoc to your skin. So, if you are a working woman whose skin is constantly
exposed to such destructive factors, see that you pay extra attention to retaining the glow on your skin.
Beauty from within
There are many anti-ageing skin care products available that make tall claims of restoring skin to its original condition, but nothing will succeed like true beauty from within - so unless you are healthy from both inside and out, you will not really succeed in your quest for a healthy skin. For this, what you need to develop is a healthy lifestyle, drinking plenty of water, taking adequate rest - a good restful sleep for 7-8 hours, and using the right moisturizer religiously.
Using a good moisturizer / sunscreen
If you feel you have weather beaten, dry and thin skin, it is obvious that you need to protect your skin from the effects of harsh weather, especially the sun and wind. Start applying an effective sunscreen lotion that does not contain alcohol which will end up having a drying and ageing effect on the skin. A good moisturizer serves to not only hydrate but also protect the skin from the havoc that can be caused by wind. Application of moisturizer is a must when you use any make-up. Without a good moisturizer, make-up can cause a creepy effect that will give you an aged look. - so, remember to hydrate the skin well. All make-up should be removed at night - this is an essential part of skin care regimen.
Importance of anti oxidants
Any anti-ageing product that you use should contain anti oxidants such as beta carotene or grape seed as these contain ingredients that fight the free radicals that cause oxidization of the skin cells and will exaggerate the look of wrinkles. These also protect the collagen and help the skin to remain firm as well as supple.
Nutritious diet
Deficiency of major vitamins will automatically cause skin to look dry and aged. Vegetables are the best sources of important vitamins, but in case you are not getting sufficient nutrition, have mineral-vitamin supplements every day. Vitamin A,C,E,D, biotin, choline, inositol, calcium, copper, iodine, zinc, phosphorus are all required to give the skin a healthy glow. Natural supplements like protein, fibre, fatty acids, collagen, evening primrose oil etc. can also be taken as part of a daily skin care regimen.
Steaming, sweating it out in a gym at least three times a week can help to revitalize the skin. You have to stimulate the body's circulatory system so that toxins are disposed of and new nutrients are properly absorbed. Steaming also discourages growth of bacteria and prevents acne. All said and done, there is nothing like a wholesome nutritious diet and healthy habits to ward off signs of ageing skin that can make you look years older.
