  • Solicitations promising great riches working from home. Common phrases include "easy ways to make money", "no previous experience needed". Honestly, doesn't it sound too good to be true? And so it is in reality.

  • Steer clear of any opportunity requiring a fee for more information. "A fool and his money are soon parted." They're waiting for a few such fools to come their way.

  • You're often promised software and an instructional kit. You send in your money - and you get a little more information than the initial ad. You're expected to send in more money for more information.

  • Commission based business. They promise you a neat commission for every product you sell for them. They also ask you for a down payment. The commission is so small that it takes you a long while to even recover your money. Very often people lose their deposit.

  • Online casinos. With plenty of ads from supposedly previous winners. You can't help but feel it's only a matter of time before you win too. Don't gamble online. There are no big winners. The occasional small winners have waited around for months for their money, before they decide to give up.
