Don't walk a stressful tightrope between work and home anymore. Deliverance is here.
Someone has finally woken up and realised that work need not be a strict 9 to 6 schedule. Flexi work schedules are now emerging as a part of corporate work culture. More and more employers are realising that work and personal lives are interdependent and personal issues can affect job performance.
What exactly is a flexible work schedule? It is as simple as working in your own time and on your own terms. This can either be from office or home. If this is becoming an accepted norm then all those women who have the talents and qualification but cannot work full time could go for flexi work.
Very much a part of the work ethic in the west, in India, flexi time work options are open mostly to writers, graphic designers and software programmers.
The Flip Side:
While Flexi time cuts down your travel time and allows you to plan your day depending on your family's schedule, sometimes the very fact that you are working from home acts as a deterrent to your output. You may require tremendous self-motivation to do the work.
Flexi time also makes the person a stranger in her own office because there is little inter-action with the other staff.
What kind of money can one expect?
Usually flexi time offers money for specific consignments and therefore you must get used to the idea of irregular income. However, some companies do offer a minimum retainership, plus payment for assignment-based compensation, which could increase your comfort level. However, if you have never worked, then getting used to such a payment schedule would become easy to accept.
