Lecturer(Junior Scale)

The job of a lecturer involves teaching the undergraduate students who are fresh out of school. Welcoming them into an environment that treats them as young adults, preparing and helping them choose a career they wish to pursue and training them for competitive examinations is part of the job.

Qualifications

A Master's Degree in the relevant subject with 55% marks from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign university is essential. Candidates should clear the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Lecturers are also called upon to be external examiners and invigilators. Participation in seminars and workshops, presenting papers and reports, conducting research and publishing their work, designing of new courses and curriculum are some of the other activities.

Lectures double as career counsellors, student advisors and also manage the extra-curricular activities of their respective colleges.


Lecturer (Senior Scale)

Lecturers with six years of service are eligible for promotion to the grade of Lecturer (senior scale).

In the case of lecturers with a Ph.D. degree, a minimum of four years of experience is required, and for those with an M. Phil degree a minimum of five years is mandatory.

In addition, participation in an orientation course and a refresher course is necessary.

The remuneration could be between Rs.8, 000 - 15,000 a month.
