A medical degree is the fruit of many years of hard work. More than a profession it is a vocation and those who take it up must be prepared for a life of commitment apart from sympathy for the sick and suffering.

Qualifications: This profession presupposes a scientific approach, a good memory, an analytical mind and the ability to collect, assimilate and correlate information. It also demands academic excellence and the desire to serve others. As in other disciplines, technology has made rapid advances in this field. Therefore constant interaction is required to keep abreast of the latest developments.

Eligibility: Minimum requirement: +2

The MBBS course takes 51/2 years. This includes one year of internship during which a student chooses his/her area of specialisation, which may take 4-5 years after the initial degree.
