  • Industry: A big percentage of the jewellery manufacture takes place in this sector. The process is supervised carefully by trained personnel and the work involves all aspects from casting and moulding of the jewellery to identifying and experimenting on the different gemstones and jewellery.

  • Jewellery Houses: They mainly focus on two things - marketing and export of jewellery items. Many of them have gone into backward integration by setting up their own factories. This enables clients to order exactly what they want.

  • Research and Teaching: Many specialists in the field choose to become professors and/or researchers in the different institutions in India that offer gemmology and jewellery designing courses. Research opportunities are also available at some of the export houses, where a set budget is allotted from this purpose.
