With increasing awareness of beauty and fitness, many women are opting for beauty as a career option. Those looking for a full-fledge and rewarding career in cosmetology, can take up beauty courses. Eligibility and Personal Qualities

Academic qualification is not a must for the beautician course, but there are institutes, which offer admission with preference for 10th, 10+2, graduation etc, depending on the institute. The course depends on institutions. There are one-year courses as well as 2, 4, 6 months course. You also get a degree certificate. Some institutions also offer placement jobs after passing out from there.

Curriculum

In this syllabus a candidate is taught to groom and take care of different body parts like face, hands, legs, skin, nails, body care, make-up, facials, massage and diet. Hairdressing includes treatment of the hair, as well as styling and cuttings. The candidate develops the skill to advise clients about the right hairstyle and maintenance of hair. The whole course trains the candidate to efficiently manage and satisfy any person approaching the beautician for beauty consultancy.

Job Opportunities

You can either work in beauty salons or parlors or start your own parlor with proper finance after some good exposure and experience. Working at a health club or fitness center as an instructor can also be a good opportunity. The other options are places like hotels, slimming clinics and personal beauticians and hairdressers of film and TV stars etc.
