Interior design It involves the designing of interiors of houses, commercial establishments, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, stores, etc. It has wide scope in urban areas. An interior designer should be artistic and creative and have good business acumen. Interior designing also requires a flair for colour and decoration, and an eye for balance and space. It has very good job prospects. An interior designer can have his/her own firm or work with an architect or a firm of interior designers. He/she may also be involved in teaching, consultancy, selling of materials for interiors or designing of sets for the stage.

Fashion designing The three main areas under this consist of wholesale manufacturing, haute couture, and wholesale couture. Design activities include design research, creative design and presentation. A fashion designer should be artistic, creative and should be able to present ideas in sketches. He/she must also have a visual imagination and a feel for colour, shades and tones as also the ability to anticipate market requirements, and understand consumer lifestyles.
