Perfecting your Morning
		  Routine

Sometimes it is hard, even difficult, to get out of the house on time. And when you have children it may even seem like an impossible task.

But with a few adjustments here and there, you can plan out a smooth morning routine that will settle your nerves in order.

Sleep on time - Late nights invariably mean late mornings. Have a set bedtime preferably between 9:30-10:00 PM. Stay away from the television. Use the last 30 minutes of your day to rewind. Spend it quietly. You will sleep better.

Advance preparation - Preparing for your day the night before can save you valuable time in the morning. Before you go to bed, decide what you are going to wear for work. Next, pack your purse or briefcase and make sure that all the things you require for the next day are ready. If all you need to leave the house in the morning, keep the keys where you can find them. Precious time is wasted searching for the elusive keys, when you are in a hurry to lock up.

Wake up time, like bedtime, should be set and constant. Try to get up by at least 5.30 or 6am. This will give you some quiet time to yourself, before the whole family wakes up.

Get dressed and ready before you enter the kitchen. If this works for you, great. Especially if it helps you save on much-needed time in the morning. But it need not work for everybody. There are many who find it easier to cook before taking a bath and getting dressed. Also, if you have very young children, it might be better to dress them after they have eaten their meal. Whatever it is, work on a routine that is set and timed.

Don't plan on an elaborate breakfast on weekdays. Keep it simple. If you and your family have to leave the house very early, have some type of hot cereal for breakfast. There are many varieties of healthy foods available that you can eat and enjoy even while you save time preparing them.

Leave the house on time - This is easier said than done. But if you have your morning routine down pat, timing will not be an issue. Decide what time you need to leave the house in order to arrive at your destination on time.

Remember, 'Rome was not built in a day'. Having a smooth routine will take time, so each day do one thing that will bring you closer to this goal. It could be waking up a little earlier than your usual time. Try it and watch the results.
