When you become a stay at home mum, full or part-time, it is so easy to forget about your own needs as a living,
breathing person. This can begin from day one! You probably agonised over your decision of taking some time out of the workforce -
Will you cope financially for a couple of years? Will work cope without you for that time frame? Is this really the best way to go
about it all for your child? Will your husband feel okay about you being at home?
Odds are, thinking about your needs and
whether it was what you wanted was probably way down the list!
If you are like most women, you are probably still putting
everyone else's needs first. If so, then it is time to make a few changes.

We are not talking
about running away from home when you feel like it, or leaving children to fend for themselves. What we are talking about, is making
sure you get a balance happening, where everyone in your family has their needs met - and that means you too!
Here again, we
are not talking basic needs like food, clothing and shelter. We are talking about other needs that satisfy your feelings of
self-esteem and sense of achievement. Needs that make you feel positive about life and what it has to offer.
Remember that
there is more to being a woman than just being a good wife and mother. Pay attention to leading a full life. Take up some activities
that give you a sense of self-worth.
Don't neglect your health. Learn to keep a few precious moments for yourself. Pander to
your personal needs and desires.
You need to realise that you are the caretaker of your family and that if care is not given to
the caretaker, you have a family that is spinning out of control.
