Women in India have been struggling since ages to prove her worth everywhere, whether she is in her home or at the workplace. In India, the woman is leading men in almost every field may it be sports, agriculture, defense services, engineering, medical, etc., but still they are not considered equally valuable. In this male-dominated world, they are treated inferior to them, not because they are less qualified or incapable, but because of the reason that they are women. Though the government of India has implemented many laws to favor the working of Indian women but the society and corporate are still gripped in old rituals and beliefs when working women was not seen with respect.
The maximum numbers of professionally qualified women are from India, and it gives immense pleasure to mention that. It's true that corporate has opened the doors for women, but their attitude towards them is not up to the mark. Corporate have not provided an equal level to women specially at higher positions. Women are rare at managerial levels in India while in other countries, the percentage is comparatively higher. Reports of women abuse are quite high in India. Most of the working women feel that they did not get equal rights to men, and their chances of promotion are also few in comparison to male employees at similar positions.
Not only corporate, the whole Indian society treats working women in a different way. Older people think that women who have kids and are financially sound should not go for jobs. As after marriage, women have to manage her kids, in-laws, husband, and many other things, so she juggles in between her family and work. The result shows that even after so many responsibilities, women are more productive than men and are financially beneficial for organizations. Still, their situation doesn't seem nice, and they are not treated well.
To improve the condition of working women in India, all of us need to bring some changes in our attitude specially the male professionals. From male directors, managers, employers, co-workers, sub-ordinates, etc. everyone needs to change their behavior towards working women. Some of the women who have been designated at higher positions as CEO or GM have proven that they can lead an organization in a much better way than men. They can implement new ideas and can generate more sales. The women are more successful as managers or CEO's as they have the qualities such as dedication and great learning skills.
Once the corporate and Indian society changes their attributes women uplifting can be assured. The corporate should take some steps to facilitate the working of Indian women such as providing creche for their children and better commuting facilities. At the same time, women should keep working hard to prove their intelligence and should take certain risks at the workplace to enjoy an equal status.
