Productivity
Managing our time well will help us improve the quality of our work whether at home or at the office. This also
means you are less inclined to procrastinate and fell less overwhelmed helping you increase the quality of your work
whether it is managing home activities or working on official projects.
- Make a small list of three things that must be absolutely done each day. Most of us tend to clutter up this list by including too many things in our to-do list. Keeping it to three can actually help us achieve more.
- Avoid doing too many things at once. Multitasking can bring about strain as we try to juggle too many things at once. Instead, concentrating on one task at a time will help us complete the job at hand in a comparatively shorter time without diluting the quality of work too.
- Setting up personal deadlines a day or two before the actual deadline can help reduce the stress of looming deadlines. Not only will this save time and make you more productive in the long run, but you will also have a buffer time with little to no penalties compared to those received for missing a real deadline. There is a potential for abuse which can be avoided by putting in place personal penalties for missing these internal deadlines.
- Saying no is an art by itself. Many of us have the tendency to take on more work simply because we cannot make ourselves say ‘no’ to colleagues’ requests for help. If you are already up to your neck with your own work, taking on more to help out friends is a sure method of bringing down your productivity.
- Delegate responsibilities wherever possible. At home get children and spouse to help and at work get others involved. Giving away
responsibilities can lighten the load and improve the quality of our work whether we do it at office or at home.
