Hi, my friends had organized a party yesterday and I was invited. During the party, I heard two of my friends discussing the importance of fair complexion for looking beautiful and attractive. I am simply appalled by the ideas some people have. How can someone judge by appearance, and that too particularly fair skin, if a person is attractive or not? Is fair skin the only criterion for beauty? I am simply disgusted by the thought of judging a person based on his skin colour. I did correct my friend but that ended in an argument. I have a lot of friends who are dark skinned but are delightfully attractive. Please clarify if I am wrong. Isn’t it wrong to cling on to skin colour?

Hats off Lucky, you opinion is right.
Skin colour should not be thr scale to measurement beauty and attraction. But sadly people judge others and give respect to others by their skin colour..The talented actress Nandita Das / Rani / Kajol are all dark, but highly talented

In many parts of our country, dark men are considered to be more handsome than fair skinned men. Dark skinned women are considered to be more pretty than fair skinned women... These opinions vary from society to society. But, all such generalisations are wrong... Beauty does not depend on skin colour... It depends on so many other physical and mental aspects. Those who are biased in judging people based on skin colour stand to lose a lot of friends and good society.

Oh yes, your question brings a conversation I heard taking place between two children in our society park. You see I live in a building complex and was just sitting on one of the benches in the park when I happened to hear the animated conversation that was taking place between these two friends. They happened to be discussing the people in the society from their point of view and I could hardly contain my laughter as they went on dissecting each resident of the society in light of how that person behaved when their cricket ball fell in their balcony or broke their glass. Or how tight fisted or large hearted each resident was when it came to giving funds for the functions or childrens parties in the society. I wont bore you with the details but cant end this without divulging the juiciest parts. You see the lady who never returns the ball was named Ravan Aunti. Mr. Ghosh who always went on about the children sitting on the bonnet of his car was christened Mr. Ghost and Mr. Maheshwari who was constantly chiding them with dont make noise and dont play here was given the title of Mulla and Mrs. Singh who was too tight fisted when it came to shelling out money for funds was labeled Kanjus aunty.
