Birthdays are a special occasion and you can make it even more special with a homemade cake. All you need is 3 cups of Maida, 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 eggs, 1 cup butter, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 2 tsps baking soda, 2 cups milk, 2 tsp vanilla essence.

Mix sugar and butter well. Now add the egg and beat well using a whisk. Make the mixture light and fluffy. Sift the maida and baking soda together and mix well. Now mix this to the egg batter and whisk it to  make it light and fluffy. Add vanilla essence. You can also add a little milk to the mixture to ensure that the mixture is light. Grease a baking tin with some butter and sprinkle some maida on it. Pour the prepared mixture and place it in a preheated oven or a pressure cooker. If you are using a cooker, make sure that no water is added to the cooker and the base of the tin doesnt touch the cooker. Pressure cook for two minutes and once the whistle settles down, pass a knife through the cake. If it comes out clean, your cake is done.
