Baisakhi also known as Vaisakhi is a festival which is celebrated by people living in the northern parts of India. It is one of the important festivals of Sikh people. Punjabis celebrate Baisakhi to commemorate the establishment of the Khalsa. Hindus and Buddhists also celebrate this festival but they have different reasons for celebration. Baisakhi marks the start of the New Year for Hindus. People celebrate this festival by bathing, partying, and worshipping. People living in south Indian state of Kerala celebrate this festival as 'Vishu', while in Assam, Baisakhi is called Bohag Bihu. Vaisakhi is celebrated on 13 April or April 14 in different parts of India and the world. This festival is celebrated in Sri Lanka too with much fervor and happiness.
