Rabindranath Tagore also known as Gurudev was a great Indian poet, who gave a new meaning to Indian literature and music. He wrote our national anthem Jana Gana Mana and even Bangaladesh uses one of his compositions Amar Sonal Bangla as their national anthem. He was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. His poetry is believed to be extremely sensitive and mercurial. Besides being a poet, he was also a traveler, a musician and a painter. He has also written many novels and stories and the most admired aspect about his work was the use of Bengali. He promoted Bengali language and won much acclaim for the same. Many of Rabindranath Tagore’s songs and poems have been adapted by the Hindi film industry and by international artists.
