To be a good anchor, you can follow the given tips:

• Prepare your script in advance and rehearse it several times over.

• When on stage, act confident. Look at the audiences in their eye.

• When needed, interact directly with one or two persons from amongst the audience.

• Ensure to include some funny one-liners and jokes in your script.

• Keep your demeanour warm, welcoming and interesting all at the same time.

• Dress up according to the theme of the occasion.

• Modulate your voice depending upon the mood of words you are speaking up.

• Appear cheerful. The anchor’s personal presentation actually sets the mood of the entire event.

You could have some one pair up with you, preferably from the opposite gender. As a team, you can add more fun to the event. I have seen anchors even singing during the events, but cannot comment on the appropriateness of this.
