Rani Laskhmi bai was the queen of Jhansi in 1857. She was a very brave woman and despite intense pressure from the Britishers she refused against bowing before them. She was one of the architects of 1857 revolt which shook the English empire at that time. When Britishers found that Rani will not agree to their demand they attacked Jhansi. Rani retaliated strongly but was ultimately defeated. She is still revered across the country as one of the bravest women India has ever seen. Who were Rani’s companions during the 1857 revolt? What led to Rani’s downfall?

Rani Laxmi Bai was one of the fiercest revolutionists during the British rule. She was hesitant to go against the British till 1958, but when the British laid siege, she came out in full force and fought their troops. However, her untrained men failed to protect the kingdom from the British attack. She had to flee with her son from her fort secretly at night. However, she joined other rebel leaders and launched a fresh attack to reclaim her fort. She was successful in her endeavour. However, in June 1858, she died fighting a war against the 8th Kings Royal Irish Hussars.
