Short story with idioms is the first way to build up a good knowledge of idioms along with their usage. I recently came across this story which is about a young prince and a servant.

The Prince and the servant appeared to be like two peas in a pod despite the fact that the servant was born with a chicken feed and the Prince was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. The King was a fat cat and it always came to him as a bolt from the blue when he was asked to gift the servant with some new clothes. One day, the Prince told the King that he wanted to go out and hit the road with the servant. On hearing this, the King came down in the mouth. Though all the arrangements were made at the eleventh hour, yet everything could be made ready. However, after moving for a short distance, the Prince started to feel like a fish out of water. So, he took a turn and went back to the castle. The King jumped down his throat and hugged the Prince as he had the apple of his eye back.

Can anyone else share some story maybe with some other idioms so that I may also learn more?

Here is a piece from one that you may like and at the bottom I have given you a link where you can access more such stories:
by Caleb P.

The servant and the prince were like two peas in a pod even though the prince was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and the servant was born with chicken feed. The king had a very hard time with that because he was a fat cat. It was like a bolt from the blue when the prince asked the king to buy the servant new clothes, the king chewed up the scenery at that. The prince said that him and the servant were going to hit the road. The king was down in the mouth. He didnt know what to do. He felt like he was in the doghouse. The king let them go out of the clear blue sky. So the servant and the prince set off. They were up until the eleventh hour walking away from the castle. The prince felt like a fish out of water because he was out of the castle for so long. The prince wanted to drop the servant like a hot potato, but he didnt.
