Over the years I have noticed that children learn well and acquire knowledge in a better way when they are taught through poems. I would like to know some short English poems for 1st class students. Do you know any?

It is true; children can develop a lot through poems. You can try poems like, ‘God is strong, he listens us all day long, teaches us right, but we don’t know what he does at night,’ to teach children about almighty. To help children get closer to nature, try this poem, ‘Park is great and green, with endless things unseen. You can play here with sand or sing songs like a band!’ To teach children about different professions, like doctor, engineer, fireman, try to make rhymes like this, ‘I want to be fireman, saving the town, going up and down!’ These are the short English poems I know. If you know some then do share.

Recitation competitions are fun and easy. Usually, mothers get all worked up when their kids have to participate in a recitation competition. It is but natural for a mother to get nervous when her child has to perform, but you can cut down on the stress and make this experience more enjoyable. Pick an easy to memorise poem for your child and add a peppy tune to the poem to help him learn it. Practice at least twice a day and your child will be ready to perform. Heres an easy poem by Paul King that is easy to memorise

Buzzing bees, buzzing bees

Buzzing and bumbling from flower to flower

Sucking sweet nectar out of the bloom,

To fill with gold your honeycomb bower.

You can choose many more poems from these websites http://www.straightlineandcurve.co.uk/class_1_main_lessons.htm, http://www.english-for-students.com/English-Poems.html, http://home.netcom.com/~radashe/20simple.htm, http://poetryzone.woodshed.co.uk/challenge4.htm,
. Do you know of any other easy poems?
