I am planning to make a documentary on famous women social workers of India. During my research I found that there are many women social workers in India, making it tough to select the top five. Can you people come up with your list of 5 famous Indian women social workers?

There are many women in India who have done significant work for the upliftment of the society. Some of them are however more famous than others mainly due to the impact which they have put on the society through their hard work and commitment. The 5 most famous Indian social workers are Annie Besant, Mother Teresa, Aruna Roy, Ela Bhatt, Kiran Bedi. Can someone provide me links containing information about Indian women social workers?

*Medha Patkar - Narmada Bachao Andolan

*Irom Chanu Sharmila - also known as the "Iron Lady of Manipur" or "Mengoubi" ("the fair one")

*Maneka Gandhi - More than social activist, she is an animal rights activist and environmentalist
