The founder of Dharma Productions, Yash Johar, is survived by his wife and son. His son, Karan Johar, is a known producer-director in Bollywood. An only child of his parents, Karan was always pampered. He was particularly close to his mother as a child. It is heard that on account of being plump, he was often reprimanded by his father. While in school, Karan was average in studies. But he did his father proud by scoring the best in his graduation.

Karan always looked up to his father and secretly hoped to become like him. This is what guided him to enter films. After Yash Johar’s death, Karan went through an extreme change and became mature. It was his deep reverence for Yash Johar that caused Karan to remake one of his father’s flops “Agneepath”.
