1950 is that era of Bollywood which lives vividly in our memories till date. The decade was ruled by legends that shaped Hindi cinema for years to come. Superstars of that time were:

Madhubala- Known as the “Venus of the Screen”, she did films of different genres and proved her versatility.

Dilip Kumar- The epitome of emoting in Indian cinema, Dilip saab established his stardom with movies like Aan, Devdas, Azad, and Mughal-e-Azam.

Raj Kapoor- An excellent actor with fine understanding of music and direction, he churned out awesome work during the 1950s. Till date he is known as the showman of Indian cinema.

Dev Anand- He was the chocolate boy of Bollywood. His looks and acting skills attracted thousands of women.

Meena Kumari- Who can forget the beautiful and talented Meena Kumari, the tragedy queen, whose screen presence inflamed the screen and the hearts of audience.

Nutan- Daughter of Shobhna Samarth, Nutan brought many difficult roles to life. Her realistic acting and simple looks made her attractive and a superstar too.

Waheeda Rehmaan- This classical dancer from Hyderabad was known for her beauty and unforgettable hits like Paththar ke Phool, CID and Pyasa.

Kishore Kumar- A wonderful actor and singer who played such hilarious roles that gave an altogether new dimension to comic lead roles.

Not just the actors, but there have been film makers and several other artists who have immensly contributed to the film industry. Names like Dadasaheb Phalke and Satyajit Ray are simply legendary.
