In the wake of the recent Delhi brutal gang rape case, the issue of women empowerment and equality has been a hot topic of discussion. It is sad that such a brutal incident had to be an eye opener for people, to understanding the raging inequality that is rampant in a growing country like India. This inequality is not specific to one class or kind of people; it cuts across classes, sects and religions. In fact many women themselves threat themselves and their counterparts with disrespect. There are numerous instances of inequality among women by itself. To empower women it is important that there is a complete change in the mindset of people, of gender bias and the roles of a man and woman.

Do you think that Indian women are fully empowered? Are the meek and helpless women who suffer torture at the hands of their in-laws, face domestic violence, and remain mute spectators to female foeticide and infanticide free in the true sense? Unfortunately, there is a huge population of women living in adverse conditions that force them to compromise with their troubles. Education definitely is a major problem, but another issue hampers the development of women in India is the lack of awareness. You can include all these points in your speech and elaborate on these issues. You can read more about these issues on http://sikhinstitute.org/jan_2012/9-manmeet.html, http://creative.sulekha.com/women-empowerment-what-it-actually-means_554162_blog, http://dailyenglish24.blogspot.in/2013/01/essay-on-empowerment-of-women.html, http://www.studymode.com/subjects/women-empowerment-short-essay-page1.html, http://www.studymode.com/subjects/speech-on-women-empowerment-page1.html. Elaborate in details and suggest solutions in your speech. Make sure your speech includes possible solutions as without solutions your speech would sound whiny and accusatory. Balance your speech with the right points to effectively present your case. Any other suggestions, anyone?
