Mamta Kulkari is a controversial actress of yester years. Her claim to fame was her topless act for the Stardust magazine. Post the act, Mamta faced opposition and death threats from various women and conservative groups. She was also charged under various obscenity laws of the Indian Penal Code and was made to pay a fine of Rs. 15000. During her career, she appeared in a number of films including Aashiq Awara (1993), Krantiveer (1994), Karan Arjun (1995), and Sabse Bada Khiladi (1995).

Later, she put an end to her acting career by marring an NRI and settling down. Later, news reports suggested her shift to Dubai, UAE with her boyfriend Vivky Goswami.
