What should I do to increase my son's interest towards academic studies ? He is 13 years old and studying in 8th std. and scores average marks in Maths and Tamil. He scores good marks in other subjects. I am very worried about his future.

Send him for tuition. Possibly someone who is fun and can teach maths in a practical way and show its importance. Slowly get him to see more tamil pictures. Some studnets pick up tamil from movies.

sit along with him for some time then dont force him make him to understand it is his future and you are ready to do any support for that maha psycholigist

for tamizh you can make him write the words atleast 5 times daily and test him. Give him the tamizh newspaper and tell him to read the headlines, the bold letters and for maths, keep the things before him and tell him to count and how to add, how to substract, ABACUS if taught would give him the solution, make him understand the numbers and proper guide books available in the market can make him excel. do not allow him to watch tv for long hours, playing computer games would make addicted and it would distract his mind away from his studies. Actually, cartoons, adventurous serials on tv make the kids attach themselves with the characters, they begin to hate studies. So, the only solution, pull away the cable plug. :) NO TV. Do not make him always study...give him break, attach the cable plug again give him snacks and glass of juice and again tell him a lie that the cable operator has stopped the transmission. Go to the study room and play with him and make him observe the books meant for progress. :)

very simple sit along with him talk to him that is decided based on all subjects when u can do good in other subjects put a little extra effort u can prove that u are gr8 he will study well. educational psychologist INDIA chennai
