Exercise is plays an important part in weight loss program, among the various calorie burning exercises that have become popular in recent times Aerobics is a favorite among the trainees as well as the trainers. The canopy of Aerobics is wide spread and includes mundane things such as climbing stairs, walking fast and doing house work. This is partially the reason for the immense popularity of this form of exercise.

About Aerobics

The word Aerobics means with oxygen and the main purpose of this particular exercise is to increase the workings of the respiratory and the circulatory system. The workings of the lung and the heart are enhanced and together they perform a complete physical workout. Running, swimming, jogging, skipping all are components of this unique form of exercise.
Keeping diseases that are part of being overweight at bay , regulating the workings of the vital organs properly, keeping the blood pressure at optimum level and strengthening the bones are the many benefits that can be reaped from regular aerobic practice.
The origins of this unique form of exercise is traced back to an Air Force hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Dr Kenneth H. Cooper who is a physician designed a set of exercises for the astronauts which helped in the prevention of heart diseases. Later it was observed that it was beneficial to the common people as well. Sports Aerobics today is an official gymnastic category and is avidly competed in.

Types of Aerobics

Aerobics is a form of exercise that does not suit everybody so different types of Aerobics have been designed according to the need of each individual. Low impact Aerobics, Water or Aqua Aerobics, Step Aerobics, Dance Aerobics and sports Aerobics are some of the varieties of this exercise form. Apart from this doing regular work at home and even taking a brisk walk is considered to be forms of this exercise. These daily routine Aerobics are- jogging, running, skiing, climbing stairs, rowing, hiking and biking.

Advantages of Aerobics

The benefits of Aerobics apart from loosing weight includes improving the workings of the heart and the lungs. This in turn helps to keep our body well ventilated and the toxins in the system are flushed out properly. The oxygen is used appropriately to aid in the burning of the fatty layer of tissues. The Cholesterol level is well maintained thanks to the workings of Aerobics. This in turn helps to increase the recovery rate from diseases.
