Snatch

Among the two recently introduced events in the Olympic Games, Snatch is one of the events. Another current event introduced as a weightlifting event in the event menu of the Olympic Games is Clean and Jerk. This weightlifting event has a very peculiar essence which no other events of weightlifting can offer.

Description of the lifting game Snatch
This is a game where one weightlifter is asked to raise a barbell from a platform upto locked arms over head in a rather smooth way continiously without any break. This barbell is lifted upto a height which the weightlifter can manage. Most often the barbell is raised up to the height of mid chest height. After this point the barbell is flipped on the head of the weightlifter. But the most extra-ordinary feature of the event Snatch is that when the weightlifter is lifting rather less weight the weightlifter does not need to rebend the knees.

Another characteristic of Snatch is that in this weightlifting game the weightlifter is required to take hold of the bar in a rather squating position as the weight of the dunbel compel the weightlifters to bend down and receive the dumbel in a squating position. After receiving the heavy weight of the barbel at a squating situation the lifter is required to flip the weight of the barbel and it moves in the locus of an arch and the barbel moves directly on the head of the weightlifters. Snatch is such type of event of weightlifting that it needs enormous strength on the part of the weightlifters.

Th lift of weight in the weightlifting event of snatch requires not only great strength but also flexibility of the shoulders of the weightlifters. Not only the flexibility of the shoulders of the weightlifters but Snatch also requires speed of the body of the weightlifters lifting weight in the game of Snatch. Snatch also requires body balance of the weightlifters.

Snatch is a weightlifting event which is executed in a single movement in the Olympic Games. But this weightlifting event is executed in two seperate phases at the time of training.The two phases of the weightlifting event include the following

The weigtlifter first approaches the bar keeping his back straight. Then the weightlifter bends down and holds the bar with his two arms. At this position the legs of the weightlifter should be bent and the buttocks will be close to the heels. Lifter may use any kind of grips. The hands will be there at the end of the bar. In the lifting competion the weightlifters use a hook grip. From this position the lifter will start to lift the weight. The parts of the weightlifters body like shoulders and hips and the bar of the barbel should move at the equal pace. The weightlifter will start the push from from the toes and the weight will slowly move towards the mid-foot as the weight will be carried by the weightlifter. It is essential for the weightlifter to maintain the angle of the torso to the ground constant. This is the first phase of lifting in the lifting game of Snatch. After that the lifting will be done by the lifter slowly keeping the balance of his body.
