Ronny Weller was born in the 22nd of July, 1969 in Oelsnitz. He is one of the famous German weight lifters who competed at first for East Germany and later for Germany. During the 1990s, Weller was three times the world champion, and broke 11 times the world records in weight lifting. He took part in the Olympic Games five times where he won four medals. At the Summer Olympics in Athens in the year, 2004, Ronny Weller had to retire from the contest because of an injury which he suffered at the time of the snatch competition.

Weller’s father’s name was Guenther, who was a sports officer of the NVA and his mother was Christine. Since Guenther Weller in the resident training center weightlifting the army sports club worked, his son Ronny came very early into the sport of weight lifting and there his great talent in this field was noticed. In the year, 1987, Ronny Weller became the Junior World Champion in 1st heavy weight and also broke a 17 year old record in the Olympic duel first 400 kilogram. Just after one year, Ronny Weller won a bronze medal in the Olympic Games in Seoul. In the year, 1989, Ronny was credited of winning for the second time, the World Championship title in the category of the juniors. Apart from this he was also among the discipline tearing World Champion at the level of the seniors.

The career of Ronny Weller seemed to have faced and uneven and abrupt end in the 22nd of December, 1989. At this date he met with an accident in Frankfurt on wet road, while he was in a car with his then girlfriend who died in the accident. Ronny suffered severe injuries with multiple fractured bones and was in a state of coma for a week. He survived the accident and after about fifteen months he again rose up to train himself for his favorite sport, weight lifting. Through hard and rigorous training and of course, due to his extraordinary talent, Ronny Weller again returned to the slot in the field of weight lifting. In the year, 1991, Ronny won the World Championships in Donaueschingen in cutting, tearing and two fights each case the silver medal. About a year later, he celebrated his greatest achievement in the Olympic Games in Barcelona, where he was in the second position after Schwergewicht. During that period, with the recommendation of former Olympic Champion Rolf Milser, Ronny Weller moved from Frankfurt to Duisburg.

At the Olympic Games in the year 2000 which was held in Sydney, Ronny Weller finished in the second position behind the Iranian, Hossein Reza Zadeh. In the later years, Ronny faced a lot of competition because of the injury breaks to appeal. Weller was along with Marc Huster, as the flagship of the German Gewichthebens. In the European Championships which was held in the year, 2004, Ronny Weller won again three bronze medals. At the Olympic Games in Athens, Weller had a chance of becoming the first weight lifter to win medals at five Olympic Games. But a sehnenanriss in the right shoulder prevented him from achieving the feet and immediately after that he ended his career.
