Sometime you recognize easily that your child is being bullied through some obvious signs, but it may be possible that your child is being bullied and you`re unaware of that as it may not always be physical. Bullying has become a major concern for schools and colleges as many children are facing the negative consequences of this unsocial activity and parents, especially of teens, should keep an eye on their children. As there are warning signs to indicate that your child is being bullied, keep a track of them. Observe you kids and notice the changes, and if you find some of the warning signs listed below, your child could be a victim of bullies:
Social withdrawal:
Social withdrawal is an immediate effect of bullying. If your child is losing interest in some of his favorite activities and is not interested in participating on the social front, it is a matter of concern. Some noticeable changes that if you observe in your child indicate the aftereffects of bullying are-cutoff from friends, regular absenteeism from sports or other social activities of his/her interest, less outgoing, feeling anxious during social interactions, etc. If you notice any of these changes in your child, look seriously into the matter as it could be due to bullying.
Mood swings:
Mood swing is commonly experienced by certain children, especially teens, but if it is occurring frequently and is something unexpected from your child, find the real reason behind it as your child might be dealing with bullies. Your child could be psychologically bullied or threatened and it could be the reason of your child`s rage. Crying episodes, sudden and expected reactions in some common situations, are some possible signs of being bullied.
Health Concerns:
Your child may make regular complain regarding headaches, stomach ache, and other fake health problems to avoid school and other social interactions where they feel a threat of being bullied, but the matter could be real also. Your child may suffer from various health problems as a result of bullies so you should look into the issue personally. Your child may suffer from various health problems such as a dramatic change in eating habits, skipping meals, frequently, disturbed sleep, etc. Your child may also
result in self-destruction so deal with the matter gently.
Listening to your child talks may give you an idea about how s/he is feeling and whether there is something serious taking place in his or her life that you`re unaware of. Talk to your child and try to know if s/he is facing bullies so that you can find a relevant solution to the problem. Many kids being bullied feel helpless and humiliated and they feel shy to describe the situation to their parents or anyone else. Thus, being their parents you have to convince them and help them to talk openly about such issues. As most cases of bullying take place in school and colleges talk to the talk to the teacher, school counselor, and principal as soon as possible to stop those unsocial acts and for the well-being of your child.
