A gallbladder is a pear-shaped 10-12 cm long organ that is presnt inside a human’s body. It is the store house of about 50 ml of bile until the body needs it for digestion. connected to the liver and the duodenum by the biliary tract, the gallbladder has many layers. This gall bladder, when it starts malfunctioning, causes a lot of diseases. Gall Bladder Surgery has become very common today. Gall Bladder Surgery is done to treat gall bladder cancer and other such diseases.

Among the major Surgery of the Human Body, gallbladder surgery is very common. Gallbladder cancer is an uncommon cancer which can be easily cured if diagnosed early enough. removal of the gallbladder cures the cancer. But many a times the cancer spreads to other organs like liver. Gall Bladder Surgery or surgical removal of the gallbladder is the most common and most effective. The Procedure of Surgery involves cutting below your ribs on the right side and going to just below your waist to remove the gall bladder. Laparoscopic is the newer way to remove the gallbladder. this surgery is done with a laparoscope. Instead of one large incision several small incisions are made in this operation. In this process, a laparoscope is put into the patients body through a tiny cut which is made just below the navel. The gallbladder is projected in the TV screen while the operation is done with tools inserted in 3 other small cuts.

The benefits of Gall Bladder Surgery with laparoscopic cholecystectomy are less pain after surgery, shorter hospital stay and a shorter recovery time. this type of surgery is avoided in those who had had surgery around the gallbladder before or if one tends to bleed a lot or even if s/he has any other problem. the complications of this type of Gall Bladder Surgery include bleeding, infection and injury to the duct (tube). During the operation the intestines or major blood vessels may also be injured.

Gallstones are an irregular shaped hard object forming the gall bladder, cyctic duct, hepatic duct or bile duct. They are usually about a size of a marble or even larger than that. composed of calcium salt, phospholipids, lecithin, bilirubin, bacteria and crystallized cholesterol, these gallstones are filtered through the liver and accumulate in the gall bladder. These gallstones are diagnosed by Ultrasonography which uses high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities inside the body. The other method pf detection is Cholecystography, use of X-ray beams. Drinking apple cider vinegar, taking a bath with cold water up to the waist, drinking a lot of water, eating food with a lot of fiber, taking lecithin- all these helps recovering from gallbladder stones. But a Gall Bladder Surgery is most effective in serious cases. Percutaneous surgery, open surgery and Laparoscopic surgery is very common for this duisease. There are some contraindications to surgery are Obesity, Pregnancy, Acute GB, Fistula, Adhesions, Portal hypertension and Severe deformity.
