We often fail in our diet regime because more often than not we lose track of what we eat throughout the day. In dieting the healthy way, maintaining a food balance is as important as counting calories.
Here are few ways you can keep check on what you eat and how much you eat:
- Plan your meals: Depending on your calorie needs, draw a food plan for the week. List all that you need to eat and buy your groceries accordingly.
- Maintain a food diary: Despite planning, we often end up eating out or ordering food home. This can throw a diet off balance. So write down whatever you have eaten through the day in a diary. At the end of the week study it carefully to find out your eating pattern. This also helps you in knowing your desire curve and the urge to binge.
- Check you eating pattern: By keeping a food diary you can find out what you like to eat and your hunger habit. Trace the time when you have cravings in the day and what triggers it. This way you can prepare yourself beforehand with healthy snack to avoid reaching for that chocolate muffin.
- Don't deprive yourself: Allow yourself little food indulgences. Since it is proven that depriving is the biggest cause for diet relapse. Have little of your favourite cake or curry once in a while in the week.
- Eat slow: Take at least twenty to eat your meals. Eat slow and frequent small meals rather than filling up with one big meal.
