Excessive exposure to sunlight and hormonal imbalance can cause pigmented skin. The skin reacts to the aggression of the UV rays and produces extra pigment to defend itself and this worsens with age. Similarly hormonal changes can cause skin discolourations. Get rid of patchy skin with these treatments:

De-pigment pack: Juice of 1 lemon, a pinch of turmeric, ½ grated cucumber, ½ cup finely powdered almond, ½ grated raw potato. Mix together the ingredients and apply on the area. Keep on for 30 minutes. Rub gently and wash off with cool water.

Anti tan pack: 3 tsp sandalwood powder, juice of ½ lemon, rosewater or cucumber water, and cold milk. Blend together and apply the pack on face, neck, back and arms. Keep till the pack dries. Wash off. Follow with a moisturiser.
