Healthy OilsWe have been labeling fats and oils as the prime criminal behind our growing girth. Result, we have banished them from our diet. According to health experts totally banning oils from diet can harm skin in a big way, making it look crepey. So now they have gone back and are advising adding some good oils to your diet.

Some fat in moderation is good for you really. Fats are an essential element of our diets. Fat consists of solid or liquid oils that lubricate the intestines and joints. They are sources of long term energy. Vitamin E, D and K are absorbed with the aid of fat. There are four types of fatty acids: saturated fatty acids, trans fatty acids, monounsaturated fatty acids and polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Healthy fat is derived from plant seeds and fruits - olive, groundnut, sesame, coconut, mustard, sunflower, avocadoes, flax seeds, walnuts, almonds to name a few. The best kinds of oils are organically grown and then cold pressed. This process retains more sensitive elements and delicate flavours than heat pressed oils. There is a dramatic difference between raw fat oils and cooked oils. Raw oils strengthen cell membranes and restore fat-soluble nutrients to the tissues. However, the quantity of oil consumed should be within limits, as excess tends to do more harm to the body than heal.
