Hemorrhagic stroke are different from the other type of stroke as there is tissue damage not due to lack of blood but due to too much bleeding inside the brain. Hemorrhagic stroke are of two kinds known as intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage. Hemorrhages caused in the brain are called intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage is the hemorrhage in between the inner layer known as the pia mater and the middle layer known as arachnoid mater of the brain. Epidural and subdural hematomas caused due to external injuries too causes blood to flow excessively in the brain.

There are different symptoms and diagnosis methods in order to detect the different types of hemorrhagic strokes. Correct detection leads to the proper administering of the drugs or the necessary treatments.

Intracerebral hemorrhage of hemorrhagic stroke is more common than subarachnoid hemorrhage. Intracerebral hemorrhage are seen in people with ailments like high blood pressure, weak blood vessels, blood disorders and use of anticoagulants causes the stroke to reach a fatal stage. Like most hemorrhagic strokes, the phenomenon begins very suddenly. It starts with headaches gradually developing the neurological problems like paralysis, loss of speech or vision, weakness, confusion and numbness. These symptoms then go on to develop many more complicated symptoms like seizures, nausea accompanied by vomiting and loss of consciousness. To detect intracerebral hemorrhage by medical tests there is magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). The damage caused in the brain can be detected by these tests.

Subarachnoid hemorrhage is another type of hemorrhagic stroke. In this type of stroke, there is bleeding in between the inner layer and the middle layer of the brain. The rupture of the aneurysm is caused due to the pressure inside the artery. Other causes of this type of strokes are arteriovenous malformation at the time of birth, bacterial infection causing damage to the blood vessels and atherosclerosis. Subarachnoid hemorrhage are caused by most head injuries. There are no immediate symptoms in this type of stroke but there are gradual development of the strokes. There are severe headaches, vomiting, dizziness as the blood and cerebrospinal fluid creates obstructions in the brain and causing all the effects.

To detect subarachnoid hemorrhage, computed tomography (CT), cerebral angiography and spinal tap (lumbar puncture). People suffering from any kind of hemorrhagic strokes should be kept under extreme care and observation as the symptoms tend to develop into complications. There are many drugs and various kinds of treatments for this ind of heart disease. With eating restriction and proper care there cannot be much risk for those suffering from heart ailments. By surgical methods, the clots or ruptures can be mended. But the damage done to the other parts of the body due to the non functioning of the brain cannot be reversed. When the patients goes into coma in hemorrhagic strokes, there is death in most of the cases. To prevent the recurrence of the hemorrhage, metal clips are fitted to the aneurysm. This stops the flow of blood permanently.
