Trigger factors can be any food or any environmental agents. Pollens are one of the prime trigger factors for atopic dermatitis. However you have to monitor keenly to find out the allergens triggering atopic dermatitis. Tomatoes, yeast, corn, egg, milk, yeast, nuts and cheese are some of the potential food allergens that are found to cause atopic dermatitis in many patients. Dust is another potential allergen which trigger asthma and atopic dermatitis. Many people are also allergic to the dander from the fur of house pets like dogs and cats. Emotional stress and inappropriate sleep can also lead to various allergic reactions including atopic dermatitis. Try to relax and control your anger. Too much stress can be harmful and aggravate the disease.
Allergists often perform the scratch test to find out the potential allergen to which the patient is allergic. In scratch test a little portion of the skin is scratched and is exposed to various allergen to find out the most potential allergen. Once the allergen is detected, measures are taken to eliminate out the allergen. You can get benefit from atopic dermatitis by topical application of skin ointments like pimecrolimus or Tacrolimus. Oral application of antibiotics are often helpful. However it is strongly recommended to consult your dermatologist if you are suffering from severe atopic dermatitis.
