Schools drill students on multiplication tables, spelling, writing and reading. But how often have students been told how to respond to a handshake? What kind of handshake should be offered or how they should go dressed for work or to an interview? Some schools like the ACE school believe that these soft skills are much more a part of the curriculum than even the technical skills because these are the skills that pupils need to survive on the job.

New Curriculum

Schools are opting for this kind of curriculum because although the resume looks great, people aren’t taken for the job because they are just not right. Students role play interview processes right from filling in the application to taking part in the interview. This process makes students understand how to respond to these situations and how important it is to develop certain skills that make you fit for a job. Such schools clearly develop the vocational skills that students so desperately need in order to do well in their careers. It would be terrific if Indian schools took the hint.
