A memorable moment for mothers all over the world is the image of Michael Phelps coming out of the pool, walking over to the medal podium, taking the flowers, making his way through photographers and benches and giving them to his mother. The honour was to a woman who had raised her children alone, without the help of her partner, devoting her life to it and making it the greatest success. The number of Olympic champions who have publicly declared that they have been inspired by their mother is astounding. LeBron James, basketball superstar thinks the world of his mother, who raised him on her own. Usain Bolt, the Jamaican sprinter, ran to be hugged by his mother after completing the 100 metre dash. There are some like Tyson Gay, who just has to talk to his mother every day and especially before a race so that she can de-stress him. Fathers definitely feel left out in this picture but how lovely for the mothers of the world!
