Nasscom would like to make providing security to women who are on night shifts in the BPO and IT industry not just mandatory, but a code of conduct. At the seminar on Security Measures for Night Shift Women Workers, it was said that the percentage of women working n the industry was now 30 and that number would have to get raised to 50 by providing women not with just equal job opportunities but by providing them with equal opportunities at the workplace.Women Managers
So that talent is not wasted, companies are beginning to encourage women to resume work even after a year`s break. Companies would also like to set down safety guidelines for women employees by asking them not to make cab drivers wait, not to drop them off at unscheduled places and also urge them not to adopt an overly friendly attitude towards them; they are to maintain a strictly professional attitude. Perhaps what the industry should be doing at the orientation sessions is doing role plays on handling situations while travelling alone in the night and having self defence classes.
