Couch Potatoes
Children love to move about, jump and run and play. In fact, they can’t sit in one place. Then what happens to them when they become teenagers? Why are most teenagers reluctant to exercise? Many are either too skinny or too fat and yet, they have no inclination to do anything about it. By the time teenagers reach the age of 15, only 31% do exercise of any kind at all. Some teens attribute it to laziness, others to lack of interest and yet others to the fact that they are far too busy! Being with friends and getting enough sleep are more on the priority list.
Solution
The best solution for this lethargy is for parents to become involved in the physical activity of their children. It is important for parents to stop watching TV and instead, go out with their children either on a hike or on a biking expedition. Children can be asked to wash the car or tend the plants in the garden. This is useful physical exercise and something that they can get paid for too! So parents, will you start taking your duties more seriously?
