Binge Drinking Among Girls
Today's teens are obsessed with reducing weight, not eating and therefore resorting to smoking and drinking. More girls than boys in the age group 18-24 drink. The reason for this could be the fact that they have developed friendship with older boys who drink more and smoke more. The reason for smoking is the same. Most teenage girls who have older girlfriends also tend to smoke more than boys do. The same is the case for those girls who have tried drugs or painkillers.
Health Problems
Experts warn that such girls will have health problems by the time they become 30. Lack of body weight compounded with alcohol and smoking (not to mention drugs) are just the right combination for bringing in health complications, not to mention psychological complications. Should schools start counselling teens on finding friends their own age instead of being lured by an older crowd? Should parents also be supervising the age group of their children's friends? Yes, this calls for policing, but at the end of the day it is much better than taking your ward to a series of therapy sessions!
