The public molestation that took place in Juhu on New Year`s Eve has met with a lot of mixed reactions. The powerful movement that has emerged from the incident is called Fightback. There are 1,200 members of this society on Facebook and all of them are committed to fighting crime against women. The core group consists only of nine people, but they have tied up with various corporate houses, websites and rock bands. Everywhere, women today are harassed, even if they are in the company of other men. Men only feel helpless and embarrassed.

The members of the club say that they do not want a number game as far as membership is concerned. What they want are likeminded people to come together so that they can make society aware of how shameful it is to indulge in such acts. Fightback says that it is challenging because although Indians speak of non-violence, violence is in their genes, and sometimes this takes the form of striking out against the other gender. In fact, many of them feel that molesters should get the death penalty.
