There is so much being written about dyslexia or slow learners. But what about gifted children? These are children who are the class clowns, the quiet ones staring out of the window or the ones who are constantly asking questions. The children complete work much faster than the others and are restless, therefore getting into mischief. Gifted children have an incredible memory and are unconventional thinkers. Five per cent of the population of a country is said to be gifted, which means that India has 50 million gifted people, some who have not had any conventional schooling!

Cathedral & John Connon School at Mumbai has after school classes for such children where they explore literature, science, art, math and natural history by debating, arguing, justifying and reflecting. This is done in order to cater to the needs of these children who will otherwise become restless and unhappy. The idea behind the conception is to produce happy and balanced children and not Einsteins!
