The results were disappointing for many (Indian) tennis fans, with Sania leaving the court during her singles match and once again disappointing the fans in the doubles game too. Sania and Sunita Rao crashed out of the women`s double tennis after being defeated by Svetlana Kuznetsova and Dinara Safina of Russia. The Russian team won 6-4, 6-4. The question many viewers are posing is why take part in a world class event when you are not fully fit? The defeat at such an early stage has not been taken lightly by Indians who are quite vexed with celebrities raking in money even when they do not perform!

The Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi story has been no different. The pair was disappointed at losing to the Swiss pair Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka in the men`s doubles quarter finals match. The Indian pair had come together, determined to take back the Olympic gold but they were outdone by the Swiss pair on India`s Independence Day. With that, comes to an end India`s hopes of winning the medal in tennis.
