Music and Cholesterol
Where mere advice has not helped, politicians have decided to step in by adopting a new legislation against anorexia―encouraging ultra thinness will be a legal offence in France. The media (including websites) that encourage extreme thinness will have to pay huge fines, which will also mean a three-year imprisonment. France has 30,000 to 40,000 women who suffer from anorexia and the trend is most strong among teenagers.
Death Messages
The move comes in the wake of extreme messages that young girls receive in the name of freedom of speech: to consume food that is easier to vomit, to beat themselves up every time they reach out for food, and to lie to their own doctors. The French fashion industry has vowed to help the government fight this unhealthy trend in a country where food is plenty but yet people are willing to starve themselves in the name of fashion! What teenagers do not yet understand is the enormous damage this fad can do to their health. Sleeping beauties, please wake up to reality!
