The spirit behind the Olympicsof fair play and healthy and honest competition no longer seems to be there. The drug scandal had rocked the Olympics even before players took part in the event and long after the results had been declared. The Beijing Olympics have been drug-ridden beyond imagination; it's almost as if sports and drugs go hand in hand. Ukranian Olympic silver medalist Lyudmila Blonska tested positive, as did other players from Spain, North Korea, Vietnam and Greece. T here is a lot of divide among committees themselves on the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Some committees feel that they should be allowed to use these drugs as long as they do not harm the individual. Is this the spirit behind the games? Some are happy that the games are happening only once in four years!
