As the media interviews the young and confident women who have taken part in the Olympics - the winners and the participantswomen all over the world feel so good and positive. Yet, there is no absolute equality, say some. The Olympic International Committee speaks of gender equality but it is not totally committed to the idea, complain several athletes. Gender equality means that fifty per cent of the athletes participating in the events must be women. But even the Beijing Olympics (which seemed girl studded) had only 42% women participating. The next demand made by women is that they should be allowed to participate in all the events, boxing and ski-jumping included. Women playing beach volleyball have to wear a bikini; men participating in the same event are allowed to wear shorts and a
T- Shirt. Saudi Arabia and Qatar sent an all men delegation for the events. Will we see any changes in the London Olympics or will people get used to these discrepancies?
