Cybercriminals have latched on to the names of celebrities like Brad Pitt and Beyonce for infecting the user's PC with spyware, virus, phishing and adware. This applies to anyone who is trying to download pictures, screen savers, wallpaper or even information about these celebrities. Cybercriminals understand that the average person cannot resist celebrity gossip and therefore this is the latest strategy.
Security Risk
Innocent web users are guided to sites that look authentic and genuine, but pose a heavy risk to their computers. Other celebrities that top the danger list are Heidi Montag, Justin Timberlake, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz and others. Some of these sites make attempts to get sensitive information from the innocent surfer. It won't be long before searches for top Bollywood stars also become risky and are likely to infect PCs.
