China had been meticulously planning for the Olympics these past four years and then watching their star performers win medal after medal in the sports arena. Now they feel that they have nothing to do! The result is what officials call an Olympic syndrome. Fans are at a loss, feeling sluggish and worrying about their jobs. Families during the Olympics were able to get together and watch television with only one particular thought in mind – that of winning. People had more to speak about and live for but the end of the games, there is a lethargic feeling.

The end of the Olympics means that the world’s focus is no longer on China; it also means returning to a routine life and the mind is rebelling against all this. Working people are most affected by the syndrome and counsellors urge such people to either participate in more outdoor games, make more friends or take rest, thereby making up for the loss of sleep during the Olympics! Why is so much being made of so little these days?
