In 1985, singers from the world over got together to sing We Are the World written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie as an ode to Africa. On January 26, 2009, singers will get together for Republic Day to pay tribute to the victims of the Mumbai terror attack. International singer Rihanna with violinist L Subramaniam and singer Kavita Krishnamoorthy will perform before the President.
Terror Attack
The songs are to motivate those who have lived through the tragedy. It is a tribute to those who laid down their lives for a cause; it is also a tribute to those who lost their lives merely because they were present on the scene. Artists and singers hope that it will awaken people to the situation of terrorists in India and will encourage people not to take things lying down but to work towards the removal of terrorist activities in the country.
